Sustainability Alternatives is providing strategic scientific and regulatory advisory support for the environmental, sustainability, and policy assessment of emerging climate intervention technologies with potential global implications. The engagement focuses on independent evidence synthesis, environmental risk evaluation, regulatory intelligence, and sustainability considerations relevant to the Indian policy and institutional context while supporting responsible innovation and science-based decision-making.

A national climate reporting and inventory-strengthening engagement supporting greenhouse gas inventory methodology, institutional coordination, quality assurance and reporting readiness aligned with international climate transparency requirements.

Supported development of India’s national digital platform for voluntary Net-Zero reporting and climate action planning through technical design, policy integration and institutional guidance.

A flagship internal strategic research initiative led by Sustainability Alternatives in collaboration with international academic partners from India, Australia, and the United States. The project evaluated global evidence on urban energy transition, renewable energy integration, smart city technologies, digital infrastructure, energy efficiency, and governance models supporting Net-Zero cities.

A comprehensive assessment of India’s climate vulnerabilities, sustainable urban development pathways, and policy priorities for achieving SDG 11 and SDG 13. The project translated peer-reviewed research into practical recommendations for policymakers and sustainability practitioners.

A high-impact research programme undertaken during the COVID-19 pandemic evaluating the effectiveness of respirators, surgical masks, and cloth masks against submicron aerosols. The work generated evidence supporting occupational exposure mitigation, respiratory protection programmes, and evidence-based PPE selection across healthcare, industrial, and public settings.

A field-based exposure assessment quantifying air pollution exposure experienced by infants travelling in bicycle trailers under real-world urban conditions and evaluating practical mitigation strategies.

Applied life cycle assessment methodologies to compare greenhouse gas emissions and environmental impacts across conventional and alternative transport fuels, informing evidence-based low-carbon transport strategies.

Contributed to an NSF-supported research programme evaluating the life cycle sustainability of next-generation carbon nanotube photovoltaic technologies. The work assessed environmental performance, identified manufacturing hotspots, and benchmarked emerging technologies against conventional silicon photovoltaic systems to inform sustainable energy innovation.

A pioneering assessment quantifying the climate benefits of reducing black carbon emissions from India’s transport sector through adoption of advanced vehicle emission standards.
